Mississippi Census Records 1860-1950

These are the 1860-1950 census records for Mississippi. Under each listing you’ll find a direct link that enables you to search the entire census for that year and view the images for free. These searches were created through a process of machine learning and human editiing and the results are as imperfect as are the records themselves, let alone the handwriting of the enumerator. The link to the entire census (all states) are always the first link under each listing. I also include listings to additional transcriptions if they’re found online for free. These additional enumerations can assist you when you’re having difficulty interpreting the handwriting of an enumerator.

Along with the federal decennial census, there are also existing schedules for mortality, slave owners, and veterans during certain years.

1890 is the census year that was lost from multiple fires. Altogether there are only a little over 2,000 pages which survived and none of them were in Mississippi. However, the veterans schedule did survive and is linked below.

  1. Looking for the Mississippi State Census for Bolivar County, 1866. Has it been indexed and digitally available. I am not seeing it here.

  3. In search of a SPRATLEN family birth, around 1865, male/son (multiple birth dates presented in later censuses). Seeking to confirm the birthplace and BIRTHDATE for name SPRATLEN. John B. Likely born in 1865.

Unsure which Mississippi county he was born in. Again, I do not see any SPRATLEN last name indexed in the names of Mississippi censuses, for 1860, 1870, or 1880. Perhaps misspelled as Spratlin? Spradlin? Spratling? I did not see any of these names indexed either. Any help toward the birth date and location of John (B.) the Baptist Spratlen, would be appreciated.
